While young people don't necessarily join Scouting for, camping and residential experiences, they are undoubtedly a key part of the appeal.

In the consultation carried out prior to the development of the Balanced Programme, young people repeatedly listed camping in the top three activities that we offer in Scouting.


 

Nights Away Permit Scheme Updates 2007

In September 2007 updates to the Nights Away Permit Scheme were announced following a review of how successfully the scheme had been implemented. You can find a summary of those updates here.

The Permit Scheme

Full details of the Adventurous Activity Permit Scheme can be found in the factsheets below. This includes factsheets for specific roles such as Commissioner and Applicant.

There is also an Assessment Checklist that the Nights Away Adviser using to assess any applicants for nights away permits.

Forms and Resources

To apply for a Nights Away Permit you will need to contact your Nights Away Adviser. If required here is an application form that can be filled in online for attaching to emails and sent to naa.torbay@blueyonder.co.uk 

The Nights Away Notification Form (Form NAN) can also be filled in online for attaching to emails and sent to nan.torbay@blueyonder.co.uk 

As well as being available from the Scout Information Centre, nights away permit holders can download a nights away passport to use for young people led nights away events.
